Story

The team at Basel Running Tours are looking to raise as much money as possible for our partner charity.  So why Survivial?  I have been involved with Survival over the last 10 years and wholeheartedly believe the cause of the tribal peoples is as important an issue as exists in todays world.

Tribal people are often some the most vunerable people in the world. Thus when these people 'get in the way' of commercial activities - be it logging, mining etc their rights are ignored and their way of life threatened.

Survival give these tribes a voice and make it harder to ignore their rights.  But they can only do it with our support.

Basel Running Tours are raising money for Survival through a number of activities. These include running the Basel Marathon, designing special running tours for children and donating money from gift voucher purchases - see www.baselrunningtours.com for more details.

Please get involved and give generously. Thanks Dean

***********UPDATE 16/9/10**************************

WELL THAT WAS TOUGH...! But I did it, and in a personal best of 3:41:17.  Wasn't quite the time I hoped for but I was just glad to finish on the day.  Thanks again to everyone who has contributed so far to our fundraising.

Your support really does make a difference :-)

***********UPDATE 6/9/10 ****************************

MASSIVE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED AND SUPPORTED US TO-DATE.

Knees still hurting from the 34k run mentioned early.  Rested them last week and was feeling pretty grumpy.  Managed a 10k yesterday and another 6k tonight with knee strapped up so getting confidence back.  6 days to go....

***********UPDATE 29/8/10****************************

Did 34k run today in approx. 3 hours. This is the longest in my training schedule so winding down now to the big day.  It's only 2 weeks away now!  Bring it on....

***********UPDATE: 28/8/10****************************

We run 20+ people around Basel today and raised CHF269 (£170) in the process.  This was our first ever family running tour and with kids from 5 - 12 running we had so much fun.  Thanks to everyone for turning up - especially considering it was raining as we headed off.  Feedback has been great so we may well do another one soon.
