Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to click on the link and find yourself here on my JustGiving page.
I DID IT! I completed the Chester 100 mile ultra marathon. Total distance was 104 miles and I did it in just over 25 hours. I ran through some of the most beautiful trails and scenery I have ever experienced and I also ran, walked and almost crawled through some of the darkest, loneliest, nettle ridden fields and paths through the night. I watched day break as I stood in wonder at what I was on the verge of completing. I continued as the sun rose higher into the sky at the start of my second day. So many highs and just a few lows - all at the most extreme ends of the scale. I was completed exhausted.
It was brilliant. I had no choice but to complete it. The support I had was astonishing and quite humbling. The sponsorship money riding on this has grown far beyond my expectations. But it's not too late to sponsor me if you feel my efforts are worthy.
Here's my story...
In recent years more and more people in my life have been diagnosed with one form of cancer or another. Family, friends and colleagues. Some put up a brave fight and lost and are deeply missed, others have won and some are still fighting.
I want to fight. I want to fight for the cause. I want to fight for others now and in the future who have and will succumb to this terrible disease.
I will fight by doing something that both scares the living daylights out of me and challenges me both physically and mentally like never before. Just one day of my life to reflect upon the days of others and to support a cause which will continue to give hope to all of us.
On 19 May I will take on my toughest physical challenge yet. I will run 100 miles. I will run and complete the Chester ultra marathon and my aim is to do so in under 24 hours.
Whether you admire my courage or just think I’m crazy, I don’t mind. What I care is that you understand just how tough this is going to be and why I’m putting myself through it. What I care about is the charity I’m supporting.
If you understand and want to help this fight then please, no matter how small the amount, dig deep into your pockets and sponsor me. By doing so, you will be giving strength, hope and opportunity to so many now and in the years ahead thanks to the tireless work Cancer Research UK undertakes.
