Story
Surrounded by family Baby Luna Eleanor Townsend-Brown has passed peacefully away on 5 October 2015.
Luna suffered from a rare and incurable neurometabolic disease. She was cared for incredibly well by the staff at Alder Hey for a 6 month period....
During this time, she suffered from reoccurring pneumonia caused by aspiration of fluids.... As a result of this she had a PEG fitted, to feed her directly into the stomach... She lost the majority of her sight by the time she was a year old, needed monthly blood transfusions and had to endure a muscle biopsy, lumbar punctures and a host of other procedures and tests.
Sadly her condition was progressive and eventually her kidneys and liver began to fail... She was ventilated fully to help keep her alive for a short while, but eventually she slipped away in our arms.
As her 2nd birthday approaches I am reigniting the fundraising appeal for Alder Hey Children's Hospital, who cared for her tirelessly and compassionately and still work to support me and the rest of our family to this day.
