Story
JCI Manchester is extremely excited to announce that we will be supporting Anxiety UK as our chosen charity this year.
As many of you will already be aware Anxiety UK is a national registered charity (number 1113403) (company number 5551121,) formed in 1970 for those affected by anxiety, stress and anxiety-based depression. The charity is user-led, in that it is run by and for those with experience of anxiety, stress or anxiety-based depression and is supported by a high-profile clinical advisor panel. Anxiety UK offers a free national helpline (03444 775 774) as well as free email support (support@anxietyuk.org.uk) and text service (07537 416905) and instant messaging support. They also offer fantastic support including counselling, acupuncture and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), all run by their amazing volunteers via the national network of Anxiety UK approved Therapists. Anxiety UK also supports research into anxiety and has a small research fund named after the charity’s founders, Katharine & Harold Fisher.
Anxiety UK is a dedicated, friendly and approachable charity that believes that anxiety, stress and anxiety-based depression are treatable and manageable and so we felt it was absolutely essential to not only support such a fantastic charity but also to raise awareness of the benefits and support that Anxiety UK can offer our members (especially those who are suffering in silence). This year we have teamed up with Anxiety UK to deliver some amazing events centered around mental health, wellbeing and mindfulness (watch this space as they will be announced soon), along with ‘member benefits’ and some brilliant volunteering opportunities. We’d love for you to get on board and really help us make a difference.
