Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In February, I will be joining a team of local retailing industry colleagues to cycle 440km across Sri Lanka to raise much needed funds for MAG, the Mines Advisory Group.

It's just incomprehensible that nine innocent men, women and children die or are horribly maimed every single day through landmines and unexploded ordnance left over from conflicts in countries like Sri Lanka. We're trying to do our bit to help put that right.

And it's not just about the deaths and injuries: vast areas of Sri Lanka are rendered impossible to work or farm because of such unexploded ordnance. Innocent civilians suffered horrendously during the infamous conflicts on this island - but it's simply unacceptable that they still continue to suffer to this day.

MAG is doing an amazing job fixing these problems, helping those who have suffered and clearing land to allow it to be re-used in 16 countries across the globe. So a gang of us are doing our bit to help MAG alleviate this situation - and I'd really, really appreciate it if you could help by donating. Last year our gang raised over £130k - we're aiming even higher this year.

About the charity

Every single day, 13 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
