Story
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Welsh men and over 550 welsh men will die from this disease every year.
We don’t know the cause of prostate cancer.
Your risk of getting the disease as a Welshman is 1 in 8
If you have a brother of father with (or had) prostate cancer your risk increases to 1 in 3
Afro-Caribbean men in Wales have a 1 in 4 risk
If you are 48 years or older and are concerned, contact your local doctor who will be able to examine your prostate gland and discuss the merits of a prostate blood test (the PSA test)
There are many treatment options for prostate cancer, but the best results are obtained when the cancer is detected early.
