Our Challenge
This March, as part of an all female team, I hope to climb to the top of Kilimanjaro in order to raise money for Wellbeing of Women. As many of you know, I love mountains and when I was asked if I would like to support Wellbeing of Women by climbing Kilimanjaro I jumped at the chance. I first saw Kili from a distance whilst backpacking in Kenya some 20 years ago and I look forward to finally climbing it!
We hope to make history with DJ Lora taking to the decks on the edge of the crater and playing one of the world's highest gigs for a tremendously worthwhile cause.
Who we are supporting
For the past 50 years Wellbeing of Women has been working to improve the health of women and babies through pioneering medical research, training and education.
Past developments that we now take for granted, such as pain relief in childbirth, ultrasound scans, IVF and cervical cancer screening have been made possible partly through research funded by Wellbeing of Women.
But there is so much work still to do
Did you know?
* 1 in 2 women in the UK suffer from some kind of reproductive or gynaecological health problem
* 17 babies still die every day in the UK
* Postnatal depression affects between 10-15 in every 100 women having a baby
* 145 women a week die of gynaecological cancers
Your support can help fund vital research and provide training grants for midwives and doctors in order to develop better treatments and outcomes for tomorrow. Thank you.
We will post regular updates on our team page.
