4/9/11
With aching legs, I completed the 14 miles in around 1hr35. Apparently for a fair amount of that Peter had been playing on the bouncy castles, so I'm surprised his legs weren't as tired as mine! I was really glad I hadn't signed up for the second lap, though.
All in all, the event appeared to go well, the weather wasn't too hot or sunny, but no rain till later in the afternoon after it was all over. I heard someone say up to 700 riders had taken part.

After
Peter's amazing efforts in the junior event earlier this year, I am myself taking part in the
Southend Bikeathon 2011. Since this is the first such event I've attempted, and I could certainly be fitter, I only plan to do the shorter course (14 miles) this year.
As you probably know, Peter and I lost
Margaret to leukaemia 18 months ago, so please give generously and maybe one day we'll save other families from going through what we did.
Andy.
