At the end of August this year I’ll be joining the Inspired Living team of 43 riders who will be riding from the UK to Rome, a journey of 1200 miles taking 2 weeks, including challenging climbs through the Alps. The aim is for this trip to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK.  Such an amount would fund 3 years of research.

Having taken part in the 2010 (Winchester to Gibraltar), 2012 (UK to Venice) and 2014 (UK to Monte Carlo) Inspired Living fundraising rides, it’s time to renew my acquaintance with the long road ahead and raise some more funds for Cancer Research UK.  The ride leaves on 20^th August and will arrive in Rome on 3^rd September, having crossed France, traversed the Alps into Italy and onwards along the spine of Italy to Rome.  To provide an even greater
challenge on the journey I will be part of smaller group who plan to include a
detour in the Alps on 27^th August to climb over the highest road Pass in Europe, the Col de l’Iseran, at a height of 2770m. This will be followed the next day by the Col de Mont Cenis at 2083m.

Whilst labouring up those mountain passes, it will help to know that it's all in a good cause and one thought which has kept me going on such occasions is that, no matter how much has to be endured, it will be over much sooner than it is for those who are unfortunate enough to suffer having cancer.  Please dig deep, donate what you can, and help in the fight against cancer.
