Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to donate to MacMillan nurses in memory of my sister Joan.
As you all know I started cycling 18 months ago as I felt the need to get fit and wanted to do the London to Brighton cycle in aid of the British Heart Foundation. It has been an ambition of mine for years.
This year I wanted to stretch myself even further and to raise money for MacMillan nurses in memory of my sister Joan.
Joan was diagnosed in 1982 with Hotchkin's Linfoma cancer and for 2 years travelled between LB to the John Radcliffe for treatment. In 1984 she was given the 'all clear'.
In 2004, after 20 years of being clear, a routine check-up showed signs of breast cancer. After treatment, it was still present. Joan was given 1 year and passed away 3 months before her 50th birthday.
Joan was a fun loving person, always wanting to be at parties, into music and young in her outlook. She loved computers and liked to design artwork for promotions.
In her last months Joan and other cancer patients set-up a support group in Linslade. The group is still active and meets on a Friday at the Salvation Army Hall. This is now run by Hillary.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. If you feel in anyway able to support my cause it would help me reach my goal and make a difference.
