Story
I'm fundraising for the Stroke Association by running a 15k on 17 March 2013 in Regent's Park. This is going to be very hard work for me, and this'll be the longest run I've ever done.
Why support the Stroke Association?
- There are around 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. More than half have been left with disabilities that affect their daily life.
- Stroke can affect anyone, no matter what their age. Around a third of all strokes happen to people under the age of 65, and around 400 children (0-18) have a stroke each year.
- Stroke is the largest cause of complex disability in adults.
- Stroke units save lives: for stroke patients general wards have a 14 per cent to 25 per cent higher mortality rate than stroke units
My wife has also spent a considerable time working with stroke groups supported by the Stroke Association, and we would like to support their great work.
