STOP PRESS. DramaAgain - this time in Nepal. Please help if you can!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of ShelterBox, who provide much needed emergency equipment just at the time when people need it most!
As far as I know, this is the first time anyone has ever attempted to raise money through the medium of anagrams... Turn 'wordplay' into 'world pay'!!
This has been running for a year now and once again I am offering to donate 50p to the cause for every voter on www.anagrammy.com/vote.html from 7pm (GMT) on Tuesday 6th March until 7pm (GMT) on Friday 9th March.
A lot has happened in the last 12 months including two evening events with my Explorer Scout Unit raising awareness of the work done by ShelterBox.
ShelterBox has been busy too, with deployments all over the world http://shelterbox.org/deployments.php
Here is how AnagramAid all began
The recent catastrophic events in Christchurch, New Zealand, and now too in Japan have rightly made global headlines and captured the imagination of many about how they can help; and though it is on the other side of the world from the UK, we have many ties with our friends, and in may cases relatives Down Under.
What is an anagram? An anagram is the rearrangement of letters from a word or phrase to form another word or phrase. (see this link for more information).
Why anagrams? Being so far away, the types of assistance I can give to the people affected by these earthquakes are limited. I can offer financial aid (and encourage others to do likewise) to provide emergency shelter and I can offer comfort through messages of support. I am very interested in and involved with a worldwide community of anagrammatists (www.anagrammy.com/forum) and thought it would be a novel way of raising funds for the earthquake appeal by asking folk to compose specially commissioned anagrams dedicated to the people of Christchurch and now Japan and generally those affected by natural disasters. Along with the money raised, the output may help in some small way to bring a smile to those who have lost so much...
In case you have stumbled upon this site before I get the challenge up and running, here is an apposite anagram from the archives to consider:
The earthquake's ~ that queer shake
I invite you therefore to make a donation to ShelterBox and post an angram on the page. It can be one you have composed yourself or just your favourite one. Keep them clean please! If you can be creative and make the subject or the anagram specific to the occasion, then so much the better...
My thanks also to The Anagram Times for posting a link to this site.
