Ironman UK Bolton 2012 · 22 July 2012 ·
As mad as it sounds as part of Team True Spirit I am training to complete an ironman for July 2012 are aim as a team is to inspire others to the realisation that anything is possible if you set your mind to it!
I have been working at DMRC Headley Court as an Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor since March 2010 and my role is to help injured service personnel regain optimal physical function.
For much of my younger years I was heavily involved in Gymnastics, training up to 35 hours a week and following I have always enjoyed maintaining a fit and active lifestyle.
It is fair to say before starting to train for this challenge ahead of me I had never run more than 5 km in my life, have never been on a road bike and finally at the start of training I was lucky if I could manage one leisurely length of font crawl.
However after witnessing the true grit, mental strength and truly inspirational achievements made by the patients I have worked with on a day to day basis (as well as by those individuals and support staff that took part in the iron man challenge in 2011) it has made me realise reality check who am I not to even give this challenge a go!
Therefore In light of the above please help to motivate and support the team in achieving this challenge so we can generate awareness and financial support for those that have suffered life changing injuries and aid family and friends on the road to recovery.
The team are raising funds for 5 charities, and I've chosen to support the Forces Children's Trust specifically - please see this link for more information on the great work they do: www.forceschildrenstrust.org/
Please help us to help them and donate whatever you can.
Thank you.
