Story
In April I am cycling from Hanoi, in the north of Vietnam, to Ho Chi Minh City right down in the south (a distance of 2000km).
I am taking on this absurd challenge, along with 20 other riders, to raise money for a number of children’s charities in Vietnam.
Since I arrived in Vietnam I have been lucky enough to work with the Little Rose Warm Shelter, a shelter for young girls who are at risk for, or have been victims of, abuse and trafficking (and one that we are raising money for through the ILACN). As the volunteer coordinator I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know these amazing, smiley and loving girls and young women. I have also seen first hand how money is needed so that charitable organisations can continue to make a massive difference in the lives of the young, disadvantaged and at risk in this country.
There is some more info on our charity partners below.
The ride itself is completely self-funded by the cyclists so that a big, fat 100% of money raised goes to these charities and organisations.
I really hope that you can spare some cash to help the beautiful children in this beautiful country. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small.
OUR CHARITY PARTNERS:
- SAIGON CHILDREN'S CHARITY: this organisation is our principle charity partner. SCC helps disadvantaged children receive an education through building schools, giving scholarships and vocational training. Read more about SCC here: http://www.saigonchildren.com/what-we-do.aspx
- ILA COMMUNITY NETWORK (ILACN) is the charitable arm of the company I work for in Vietnam. It is a non-profit organisation that co-ordinates fund-raising activities to support disadvantaged children in Vietnam. It is through the ILACN that I volunteer as coordinator at the Little Rose Warm Shelter, one of the organisations at which the ILACN provide English teaching and skills development. You can read more about the ILACN here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/ILA.CommunityNetwork/about/?ref=page_internal
- BLUE DRAGON is an organisation that supports the most vulnerable children in Vietnam.
