Story
Hey guys, thanks for swinging on by!
Seeing as we all survived the 2012 apocalypse, I thought karma deserved a pat on the back!
So, a little bit about why I'm doing this without sounding too preachy..
I think at some point we all want to make a difference and this is my one unique chance to do just that and more with your support.
What are you chatting about Amy?!
Well, after a rigourous assessment I have been selected to take part in the International Citizen Service programme with VSO.
This is a government funded 3 month overseas trip to ZAMBIA where poverty and social deprivation is on high.
I will live with a host family, be suberged in everyday struggles and then work with other volunteers on long-term and youth-led development projects that will hopefully make things a little easier.
Some of the issues I could be working with :-
- HIV and aids
- education
- youth leadership
- access to healthcare
- climate change
Upon my return and as part of the agreement, I will continue to raise awareness of poverty and set up a UK action plan.
Following this..I am making it my personal mission to learn as much as possible and filter my knowledge back into projects FOR the UK...Home is just as important after all :)
If you've read this far..CONGRATULATIONS! You've won a virtual bear-hug !
Some important stuffs:-
The money raised is NOT paying for my trip. This has already been suplimented with government funding. I am raising money for the Voluntary Service Overseas so that they can continue working with developing countries and support volunteers in making a direct contribution to the fight against poverty.
So..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
HELP ME KICK POVERTY IN THE ASS!!
