Story
On Friday 4 October, 300 Jordanian and Syrian runners will take part in the Samsung Amman International Marathon in Jordan to support Syrian refugees living in Jordan.
The Run Jordan event will see both Syrian refugees and Jordanians running together to promote solidarity with the 500,000 Syrian refugees currently residing in Jordan.
As the conflict in Syria continues to deteriorate, the number of refugees in Jordan grows every day. Oxfam is working in both Za’atari camp and in host communities, providing refugees with vital assistance.
Text RUNJ97 £2 to 70070 to donate £2 and show your support to runners around the world.
In addition to the nearly 7 million people in need of our support inside Syria, 2 million Syrians now live as refugees in neighbouring countries, like Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq. However, over a half a million of these live in Jordan. This is putting strain on host communities already struggling to make ends meet. As tensions rise, our runners are coming together to promote solidarity between refugees and host communities. Please donate and show your support.
Here's how your money can make a difference:
£3,000 could buy 100 water filters, providing clean water to refugees.
£3 can provide someone with access to a shower in a refugee camp.
£5 can help give someone access to a blanket, mattress and pillow.
£10 could help give someone access to a clean, safe toilet.
Thank you.
