The prize has been established to celebrate the memory of Alison Peden, administrator in the Department of History, then School of Humanities, who died in January 2013. Alison was a treasured colleague who will be fondly remembered by students and staff of the University of Glasgow, many of whom counted her as a friend.

 

Alison will be especially remembered for the support she gave to students who experienced challenges and difficulties during the course of their studies. For this reason the Alison Peden Memorial Prize will be awarded annually to recognise an undergraduate student in the Subject of History who has shown resilience and gained success in the face of challenges.
