Story
In September I am privileged / mad enough to be joining a group of 25 people from across the insurance sector to take on the Mont Blanc Massif. The three day trek (which is billed as 'tough'...help!!), is taking place in aid of Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) - a fundraising and awareness campaign which I work on full time for Alzheimer's Society and feel very passionately about.
This year, dementia became the biggest killer in the UK, yet there is still no cure for the condition and very limited ways to slow its progression. Over the next five years IUAD aims to do something about this by raising £10 million for crucial research. The funds raised through InsureTrek are making a vital difference towards the target - and I'd like to do my bit to bring hope closer for people affected by dementia. Every penny really does count if we are going to find ways to treat, prevent and ultimately cure this cruel condition.
I would hugely appreciate any support you can give - it really will help to spur me on because, let's be honest, trekking isn't my usual past time and I definitely haven't done enough training! It's going to be tough, but it will be so worth it to know I've made a difference.
Thank you for your support!
