We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I have participated in a number of cycling fundraisers for charities, including Lands End to John o Groats, a distance of 1100 with just a backpack, Cycle Africa, 400 miles through Tanzania, London to Paris and back with just a backpack,  for breast, ovarian and cervical cancer. I am watching the journey daily of my mom struggling with progressive dementia, and as I see her fade right in front of me I want to try and raise as much money as I can for research and prevention. Whilst it may be too late for my mom to benefit, if I can make a dent and expedite the process in order to find ways to slow down and prevent the disease in others, then I have done something.  It is truly heartbreaking to experience the slow debilitating disease. My grandfather, a stoic hero of the first and Second World War also had dementia and caused my nan, my mom, and extended family great pain. My nan used to visit my grandfather twice a day, catching two busses each way. Let's work at ridding the world of another disease - one that can be prevented. So my new and gruelling venture when I will hit 60 years old, is to cycle the less popular back to front John O Groats to Lands End. Please help support this challenge and fundraising effort.  Thank you.
