The Prince's Trust Palace to Palace 2016 · 2 October 2016 ·
The advancement of science depends on risky experiments by brave souls....
To benefit future generations, I have agreed to test whether a slightly knackered 45 year old can cycle 45 miles across London, fuelled only by two bags of jelly babies and a bottle of Irn Bru.
It may not make Sky Sports, but it will benefit hundreds of kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. And it could provide hope to jelly baby and Irn Bru addicts across the world...
On 2 October, I'll be joining hundreds of others to cycle 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle, in aid of the Prince's Trust.
We'll be dodging white vans, potholes and lycra spotters to complete the ride and raise funds for this fantastic charity.
Prince's Trust supports young people from disadvantaged areas to fulfil their potential. These are the kids who sometimes get left behind by the system, but are desperate to find a job and do well.
I've volunteered for them recently and can vouch for the great work the do and the inspiring stories that come from it: Erin had got a degree, left university, but 18 months later, didn't have a job or prospects. She suffered depression and lost confidence. But after completing a 6-week course with the Prince's Trust, she has gained skills, confidence, job offers...and the ability to make grown men cry when presenting her story!
How much would you give to help someone like Erin? And how much could you give to support hundreds of others like her?
