Story
After 30 years of being an oil and gas engineer it is time to use renewable technologies to give access to basic sanitation, water and power services via hydro, biofuel, solar and wind to people in remote locations of the world.
The picture shows how I am supporting the charity by cycling from Durham to Edinburgh on a sponsored, EDF Renewable World Charity, 200mile cycle. Hopefully raising more than £500 on the way.
We will visit 10 wind farms along the way climbing about 13,500 ft on our bikes.
£10 can provide a wind turbine to irrigate an acre of land for 60 days.
£60 can provide a home solar system in Nicaragua giving children light to study with.
£250 can buy a drip irrigation system to help a household to increase its income through cash crops.
Now I am asking if you would consider sponsoring me, so together we can help the people who live in these remote areas to have access to the basic needs of clean water and electricity. Your support will motivate me to give my best. Please sign in to make an account, and then you will be able to make a donation that will be used to effectively improve the lives of many people. Thank you, Alan
