Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Why am I doing it?

My dad, Les Stewart, was lucky enough to survive a heart attack last year whilst on the holiday of a lifetime in the far east with my mum, Nancy.  It was a tough time for all the family being thousands of miles away and completely helpless when dad was ill, but he got the best of treatment by the medical staff in China and has made a great recovery following the fitting of a stent during heart surgery.

My Grandad, David Stewart, survived 2 heart attacks in his lifetime before the third one killed him.

About the challenge
The 1,000 miles of personal challenges starts at Traquair House in the Scottish Borders with
The Mighty Deerstalker, the UK's toughest off road 10k... in the dark, and finishes on New Year's morning 2015 when I reach the top of the world's highest freestanding mountain, Kilimanjaro.

In between will be well over 900 miles of running, cycling, hiking and kayaking to reach my target.  Some highlights are:

Dirty Weekend - the world's largest assault course
City to Summit - 115 mile cycle from Edinburgh to F William, followed by a marathon up and down Ben Nevis
The Wall - a 69 mile ultra marathon along Hadrian's wall from Carlisle to Newcastle
Road Trip - a 400+ mile cycle race from London to Edinburgh
Coast to Coast - 105 mile cycle, run and kayak from one coast of Scotland at Nairn to another at Glencoe

Get behind me and let’s help improve the odds for everyone!
