I'm part of a group, University of Sussex Bhopal runners, taking part in the Brighton Marathon and/or the Brighton Half Marathon (I'm doing both) to raise money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal, a Brighton-based charity help those affected by the 1984 disaster in the Indian city of Bhopal. I've run the Brighton marathon in its first two years, just missing a 4 hour finishing time in both years. So, third time lucky, I hope.

I ran the half marathon on Feb 19th and finished in 1 hour 41 minutes and 10 seconds (a PB), but about 300m from the end I pulled a hamstring, which was doubly annoying as there has been a lot of talk on the forums about the course being at least 0.4 miles too long!  I'll need to rest up now for a while and see if I can make the marathon itself.

16/3/2012 - my leg seems to be OK now, and I am trying to make up for lost time in my marathon training.

12/4/2012 - following the hamstring injury, I got a persisting chest infection, which I (sort of) trained through, though my speed on the long runs was much reduced. I seem to be OK now, so will be running, but I won't be pushing for 4 hours if I don't feel up to it on the day.

16/4/2012 - great day for runners yesterday, if a little chilly for the spectators. So, I was able to surprise myself and meet my sub 4 hour goal (3:56:23). Thanks to all who sponsored me or the UniSus Bhopal Runners team.
