Hi all, 

As you may already know by now, I am participating in the Yorkshire Challenge, a 190 kilometre cycle through the Dales in aid of my nominated charity.

My target is to raise £1,000 before the event for The Rainbow Trust, who provide support to terminally ill children and their families.  To find out more about the charity and its aims, please visit:  http://www.rainbowtrust.org.uk/about_us    

The Yorkshire Challenge has been arranged by Hiscox (an insurance company the my Employers' deal with) and will take place on the same parcours that the professionals will ride the following day - there is no doubt that this will challenge even the most seasoned of cyclist;  a category that I certainly do not class myself in! 

Nevertheless, I have been training hard to build up the kilometres and to date (19th May) I am currently at the halfway point, having completed a 95km trip to from Hampton Court to Brighton via Croydon at the weekend in 4 hours.  By the day of the event, I hope to have buns of steel so strong that I will be able to just about make it through the pain that 8 hours in the saddle will bring.
