Story
After riding coast to coast in a day last year, we decided to up our game another level and appeal to our supporters to donate yet again.
So we decided riding from our village of Burbage in Leicestershire to Watergate Bay on the Cornish coast in around 24 hours without a break or any sleep would be a challenge!! Its only 300 miles and its only got over 22,000 ft of climbing - to put that into perspective that's amount of climbing is higher than Everest base camp-and up there with the highest peaks in the world
As some of you know I rode a 300 mile event in August 2013, I felt like it nearly killed me and vowed to never do anything like that again - but here we are again, this time hillier with the probability of a headwind.
Training for these events gives me a chance to focus on how lucky I am to have Albert, he's 6 now and having seen him go through Open heart surgery, a massive heart attack and then a heart transplant focuses the mind. He's received the best care available, and I always want to try and help others who may face situations like ours. The fear of what's round the corner remains with us, but whilst we can try and help others, we always will.
Hopefully the knowledge of the effort we put into training for an event like this and then the pain and suffering we will go through in attempting to cover the distance, will encourage people to donate and support me again, knowing that I would not ask if I was not testing my mind and body to the maximum .
On top of this we will all ride the event to Remember Harvey, the son of our good friends, who sadly passed away suddenly aged 7 in 2011. The ride is a tribute to him and his family, and a way to ensure we all think of Harvey whilst training and during the event, and bring some good by helping others through his families huge loss.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please support us if you can,
thanks
