My Dad was diagnosed with cancer in May 2017 which has since spread and become terminal in October. His time is limited and our time together as a family is precious.
He has decided to dedicate his remaining time to leaving a lasting legacy, something that will have an impact for many years to come. So along with friends and family we are hoping to raise £250,000 for Ronald McDonald House, Manchester, which will pay for converting spaces in the house to new larger sized family rooms, so we can help keep families together, close to their children in hospital.
The charity have decided to name these the Steve Burne Rooms, in recognition of his service to the charity over the past 15 years.
After beginning his chemotherapy in November, he has now lost all of his hair. In the grand scheme of things this may not seem like much of a big deal, however it is a permanent reminder of his illness to himself and those around him, especially to my little brother Seb who is only 6 years old and not particularly keen on his new look!
I have therefore decided to let my Dad shave my hair in an attempt to raise money for the Steve Burne rooms whilst at the same time trying to make Seb more comfortable with my Dads hair.
