Story
Wales Air Ambulance is the national air ambulance charity for Wales, providing emergency air cover for those who face life-threatening illness or injuries.
The charity is funded by your support – we rely entirely on donations to raise £6 million each year to operate the three helicopters in the mid, north and south of the country.
The charity’s three helicopters are confronted with a diverse and challenging landscape. Over 8,000 sq miles of remote countryside, bustling towns and cities, vast mountain ranges, and 800 miles of coastline.
With a widely scattered population and diverse landscape, many in Wales live in isolated locations, far from a major or specialist hospital. In urban areas, traffic congestion and collisions can significantly delay treatment when on a road ambulance. For these reasons, there is a recognised need for these three helicopters on active duty 365 days a year.
This is the 4th event I've been a part of and I want to make it the best yet. It's a charity close to my heart. Welsh Air Ambulance are key in helping not only everyday injuries but motorcyclists too. My parents are motorcyclists and in 2010, they were hit by a driver not paying attention. Luckily, they were struck less than 5 miles from the hospital, but if not, it would have more likely have been a case for the WAA to get involved in. I have a fair amount of biker friends, and many of these are big supporters of WAA for these reasons.
I want to raise more than ever, so my goal is £250.
The event is at the end of July, let's do this!
