Last year I decided to finally live up to all my talk about running a half marathon 'sometime' and, having often repeated the phrase 'if I am ever going to run a half marathon it is going to be Göteborgsvarvet', I didn't have much choice on location.  This may now have turned out to be a very bad idea as it is one of the largest half marathons in the world and I will be starting from the back!

Having signed up to the 2017 race I wanted to take the opportunity to support War Child, Allen & Overy's global charity partner.

War Child's Rescue Childhood programme has been made possible by the Allen & Overy global Charity Partnership with War Child.  It is designed to provide life changing support for 2,000 of the youngest Syrian children living as refugees in Jordan.  Many will have lost their families as well as their homes and schools leaving them severely traumatised and extremely vulnerable.  Rescue Childhood will build a new site in a refugee camp, where children can play and learn in safety and start to overcome the trauma that they have experienced.
