Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We the rifle volunteers served in Afghanistan 2003. We had the pleasure to serve along side Kit. Kit was the kind of bloke you could not say a bad word about. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.
"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends"
Private Jonathan Kitulagoda, or (KIT) as he was know by us as, died on 28 January, 2004, aged 23. Kit was killed in an bomb attack while on peacekeeping duties in Afghanistan.
While Kit was on a mobile patrol a suicide taxi packed with 200lbs of explosives drove into the convoy and detonated, killing Kit and injuring 4 other soldiers. Dave, Dave, Paul and a medic attached to them.
Kit was the first British soldier to die since the hostilities began.
As kit died at 23 I will be running/cycling 23 miles for every year of kits life totaling 529 miles. I will be starting this on the 28th January 2014 to mark the 10th anniversary of his death and to raise funds for SSAFA the oldest military charity out there. It has been going for over 125 years. SSAFA stands for - Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, family association.
Cycling modes will be no less than 30 miles per ride
To help me with my fundraising total great friends and work mates have joined forces to help raise the planned £2000.
