Story
The Team consists of Kenny Dickson , Jim Holmes , Brian Henderson and Alan King .
On our marathon golf challenge we are playing 4 rounds of golf in one day between Kirkhill and East Kilbride Golf Clubs. On Friday 21st June 2013 our first round begins at 05.30 am and hopefully we should be completed by 10.30pm subject to having enough golf balls !!!!.
Team Details in alphabetical order (order of seniority)
Kenneth Dickson (Rothesay Golf Club) – codename “Mother Goose”, Team Motivator/Comedian. Form Guide – Age 59, Handicap 7, carrying extra weight after wintering in Sunderland, will rely on playing fewer strokes than the rest. Guaranteed to keep team spirits up.
Brian Henderson (East Kilbride Golf Club) – codename “Past it Captain”, Catering Organiser. Form Guide – Age 58, Handicap 17 (you cannot be serious), a couple of pounds over usual, will rely on local knowledge to get through last three rounds. Good outside bet off ridiculous handicap.
Jim Holmes (Kirkhill Golf Club) – codename “Nae Sh** Sherlock”, Team fitness guru. Form Guide, – Age 45, Handicap 17, fit as a poacher’s dug therefore carrying no extra weight, runs for fun (aff his heid), keeping such a slow pace due to two old codgers may be an issue. Will definitely make the distance.
Alan King (ex Cathkin Braes Golf Club) – codename “Kingy Wingy”, Team Creator (it was his idea). Form Guide, – Age 40, Handicap 14, form unknown possible dark horse (even with the grey hair), will have played least golf before the event, relying on fitness from football. Middle of night start should not be an issue due to normally interrupted sleep pattern (new baby), in fact four rounds of golf may constitute a rest. Age should favour him.
We would like to thank the golf clubs for their fantastic support.
