Story

With an elevation gain equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest 5.5 times, a distance equivalent to cycling the Tour de France 3 times, and a duration of less than the time an average Brit spent watching TV last year, 48 State Cycle is an attempt to set the world record for cycling solo through the 48 mainland states in the USA.

The current world record is 60 days and starting on 19th May 2014 Euan Hunter will be in the saddle trying to beat it. Supported by a team of 3 friends, each with complementary skills tailored to this adventure, the cycle will be used as a platform to raise awareness for Mary's Meals.

Mary's Meals is a Scottish based charity working in some of the worlds poorest communities. By providing one good meal to hungry, impoverished children every school day, Mary's Meals ensures that these children have the energy and opportunity to learn, thus providing an escape route out of poverty in later life. It is our goal on the cycle to raise £5,856, enough to feed 480 children (10 for every state that we visit).
