Story

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my Mt Blanc ascent fundraising page (in aid of The British Red Cross). Please dig deep into your pockets and sponsor me online!

The task ahead of me is to climb to the top of Europe (Mt Blanc - 4807 meters/15,774 feet) on the 7th September.

PEAKWARE Mt Blanc Description:

"The summit of Mont Blanc is a glistening white dome that fills the sky. It is the highest and hugest summit in the Alps. The elevation difference from bottom to top is more than 13,000 feet, and glaciers extend to as low as 4000 feet. It is ascended by a number of routes.  The length and altitude of the ascent, coupled with the frequent instability of the weather, make Mont Blanc a very serious ascent, and over 1000 people have died on the mountain, largely because they failed to respect it, and failed to appreciate their own limitations. The Ascent of Mt Blanc is long and physically pretty demanding."

About The British Red Cross:

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.

The British Red Cross is a leading member of the largest humanitarian network in the world – the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

We respond to disasters and conflicts around the world, and help our fellow Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to strengthen their capacity to deal with emergencies and day-to-day aid activities in their own countries. For those separated by war or disaster, we put people back in touch and reunite families.

The British Red Cross is involved in projects in Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger and Mali.  Within these areas the Red Cross aims to provide support and aid in the following areas:

  • disaster management
  • HIV/Aids activities in Nigeria
  • Ebola and cholera prevention in Democratic Republic of Congo
  • rehabilitation of child soldiers in Sierra Leone.

Our mission is to help people in need. If you think about it, this is a pretty huge task but, with 97 million members worldwide to draw upon and a range of programmes spanning the world, it is not impossible.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

    Many thanks for your support.

    Chris
