On the 25th July 2009 12 members on the 3rd Bn The Yorkshire Regt LAD REME will depart Warminster in an attempt to complete the "Wainwright Coast to Coast walk"  which is 190 miles cross country from St Bees Head to Robin Hood Bay.   More information about the walk can be found on:

We plan to complete the walk in 7 days, so each day will be an average of 27.5 Miles over arduous terrain.

The walk will be carried out to raise money for charity, the causes chosen are Help for Heros and the Dave Larraway Trust.

Help for Heroes : Doesnt need any explanation

Dave Larraway Trust : Dave is a SNCO Recovery Mechanic in the British Army who sadly lost his wife to cancer, his only daughter has also been diagnosed with cancer, surgery to remove the it were unsuccessful (including a Hysterectomy). Treatment of the disease can only be carried out in the USA at a cost of £250,000. Dave and his family have taken huge steps in raising funds at great personal risks such as re-mortgages etc, all money raised for Dave will assist in him funding to pay for the treatment.
