Story
Towards the end of May Jonathan Mantle, Michael Roberts and ‘Vard’ Vardon will undertake the challenge of driving from Pewsey, UK to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and back.
The route will take them through over 20 countries, covering around 20,000miles (to give you an idea of how far this is imagine starting out in the UK and travelling due east, staying on the same line of latitude… Keep going until you reach your start point, then a little bit more. Yes – that far! ) and will be completed (hopefully!) in a slightly dented £350 Vauxhall Astra Estate purchased from a bloke in Keighley.
While they intend to have an excellent time this is not a zero-sum game; many more people can also benefit from this journey. By donating the good folks at Unicef will also profit. We struggled a little to come up with the perfect charity. We are passing through so many countries that it was hard to find a way to give back to many of the communities we will be visiting. UNICEF do this. They do incredible work worldwide. They support children in harsh conditions in Western Mongolia, those in war torn Ukraine (which we are now going to avoid!), and run many projects at home in the UK. Wikipedia estimates that 91.8% of money donated to UNICEF goes directly to their operations, and they are deserving of your support.
All donations are very welcome, big and small. Thank you.
Note: Refunds will not be given if we are eaten by bears, wolves, scorpions or any other the millions of dangerous animals likely to be encountered.
