As much a part of a fledgling musician's career as learning how to talk nonsense to cover for the third string-breakage of the night or playing in front of two men and a dog, Battle of the Bands nights have become a part of our gig culture.

 

Haven't you wished that, just for once, a Battle of the Bands would really live up to its billing and become a real battle?

 

That is exactly what is about to happen in Ayr's Citadel Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 1 - 3Rounds 20Clowns – a REAL battle of the bands.

 

A total of 20 singers, guitarists, drummers and even promoters, will lay it all on the line to represent their bands, nay their whole music scene, by stepping into the ring.

 

3Rounds 20Clowns is a charity boxing tournament featuring two teams of 10 musicians. Each fighter will take on an opponent across three one and a half minute rounds at Ayr's Citadel Leisure Centre in aid of Ayrshire Hospice.

 

Among the musicmakers willing to lay it on the line are Scotland's hottest rockers Attica Rage, fresh from a UK tour and summer of festivals, singer songwriter Colin Hunter, metalheads Switchblade Scream, Blood Thread and Sound Over Silence and prog poppers Culann. Even promoters are getting in the on the act, having their own private battle.

 

The event has gained the thumbs up from none other than legendary musician and boxing expert, former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo.

3Rounds 20Clowns is part of PROJECT MAYHEM a wider day of charity boxing taking place at the Citadel in aid of many great causes.

 

The Ayrshire Hospice provides a specialist palliative care service aiming to enhance the quality of life of patients. This service provides support to relieve physical and emotional distress. The patient and family are seen as a unit of care and contact may continue with family members into the bereavement period.

The Hospice is a registered charity (SC011390), largely dependent on voluntary donations. Hospice services are free of charge and are available to patients over 16 years of age throughout Ayrshire and Arran.
