We all will have friends or family who have battled cancer, it has touched all our lives. The positive news is that slowly we are beating this disease and hopefully with the work of the likes of Cancer Research UK it will no longer be a word that we all fear. I am hoping that our cycle challenge will go some small way to raise awareness and plenty of money for our chosen charity.

My father, grandfather, two uncles and an aunt have already battled and lost their fights against cancer. In 20 to 30 years we could potentially have a cure for most forms of the disease but this will only happen if we continue to advance treatments with new cancer research. It is for all the people above and others that I have decided to raise money for cancer research. What a challenge it is - I have not climbed on a "racing bike" for over 25 years!
