Story
Thank you for visiting my justgiving page.
Money for Madagascar (www.moneyformadagascar.org / http://moneyformadagascar.blogspot.com) has been supporting grass roots projects in Madagascar for 25 years. The aim of the charity is to provide financial support for small sustainable community projects led by the Malagasy people. In recent years, there has been a lot of political instability in Madagascar and this, paired with the global economic crisis, has plunged even more people into poverty. MfM provides funding in a number of different areas including Education, Health, Supporting Vulnerable People, The Environment and Sustainability, and Disaster Relief. During my time as a volunteer in Madagascar I was fortunate enough to see some of the wonderful projects that MfM has helped to support such as: lunches for homeless children, school buildings in remote rural communities, schools for children who have physical and learning disabilities and, of course, the Akany Avoko children’s home where I spent 9 months living and working with the enchanting Malagasy children.
I have decided to organise a fundraising challenge that will help to raise money for MfM. The event, which will take place on 28th and 29th of May, is a 25 peak challenge in the UK’s largest National Park, the Lake District. This year is the 25th Anniversary of Money for Madagascar and for this reason I have increased the original challenge of a 1 day 10 peak event to an ambitious 25 peak hike over 2 very long days!
Whether it be 10p or £10 per peak, every little helps!
