Story

The 2015 Queensland Twitchathon is back and better than ever! Once again Birdlife Southern Queensland is joining forces with Birds Queensland and asking birders from across the state to help raise money in support of the Carpentarian Grasswren.

Little is known about this charismatic little bird and even the most avid twitcher may not have spied it. Their shy behaviour makes them very difficult to survey, so our initial focus will be collecting some baseline data on the location and status of the current populations. We can then use this information to measure trends, and work with government and land managers to effectively conserve the species.

There are many great ways to get involved including the Open 24-hour Twitch, a 12-hour Champagne Twitch and Photographic Twitch. Details on the categories and how to enter your team are either here: www.birdsqueensland.org.au/twitches.php, or here: http://birdlife.org.au/locations/birdlife-southern-queensland/projects-initiatives-sq.

You can also donate through this page!

For any queries about the Twitchathon, please contact Nick Leseberg at twitch@birdsqueensland.org.au or on 0488 636 010.

Thank you for your support and happy twitching!
