"1 MONTH : 30 GIGS"
I am now officially 30! This challenge started on 1st March and ended on 30th March, my birthday, with a fantastic gig at The Children's Trust, in Tadworth, where the children and families there are what this fundraising is all about.
Last year I decided to set myself a challenge to celebrate my 30th birthday and decided to do 30 gigs in March. These gigs would see me visit friends up and down the country and I've actually made some new ones too, one being Sarah-Jane Miller who has accompanied me on my songs at a few of these gigs and made it even more fun...
The plan was to do 30 gigs throughout March and it turned into 1 gig a day from the 1st, all the way through to my birthday on 30th. I am tired, have lost some weight through traipsing around the different places but most of all I have had loads of fun and raised awareness and cash for the absolutely brilliant Children's Trust.
It's been quite a big challenge but completely worth it.
About the Children's Trust:
This brilliant organisation helps to rehabilitate and care for chiuldren who acquire a brain injuiry. They also support children born with multiple disabilities. The Children's Trust is based in Tadworth, Surrey. It is the only centre of its kind in the UK and children from all over the country are referred to them for care. A hugely dedicated staff team based at the Trust works closely with children and their families to provide the care and support they need.
Money from this fundraising challenge will go towards three main projects:
*Outreach work so the Children's Trust can find and support the children who need them
*A family support officer whose job it will be to look after a family's needs while they are staying near or on site at The Children's Trust. Families come to the Trust from all over the country and are unfamiliar with the local area. The familiy support officer will help with basic information about things like shopping, finding places to eat, local services, doctors etc. They can help the familiy feel at ease and supported while away from home at what can be a stressful time while their child is treated at The Trust.
*The development of facilities for older children at The College of Profound Education. The school want to cater for older children but neeed to develop their services and facilities to do this.
More information can be found on The Children's Trust website.
