Story
Following the completion of the truly exhausting inter-office cycle ride (110 miles or so in a day!) last year by a number of brave souls, which raised over £3,000, a number of employees within GSC Grays are putting themselves forward for more self-torture in aid of a number of good causes.
This year, the Company has decided again to support two charities – one local and one national. Our national charity is Macmillan Cancer Support and locally, we are looking to assist the Daisy Chain Charity in Norton, which helps families affected by Autism.
There are a number of charity events which members of GSC Grays are undertaking this year including:-
- The Lyke Wake Walk – A number of members of staff will be taking part in our main charity event next Spring by undertaking the Lyke Wake Walk, a 42 mile walk from Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley, across the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, ending at the north east coast in Ravenscar. The challenge normally is to complete the full walk within 24 hours…. However we are setting a more ambitious target of 15 hours!
- Cross-London Cycle Race – Chris Arundel has a place in what will be a gruelling 100 mile race around our nation’s capital city and home counties.
- GSC Grays/Genus Agricultural Industry XV vs Wensleydale RFC – A charity rugby match on 3 September 2013 at Wensleydale Rugby Club (7pm kick-off, bar and BBQ) involving various GSC Grays employees.
GSC Grays would be very grateful for any donations to support these two worthwhile charities.
