My name is Katie Louise Hamer, My journey with facial palsy started when i was 7 years old. Can you imagine as a child waking up to what was described to me as a stroke. From that day my life changed. I suffered for years to try and fit in, I had nobody to talk to about how I was feeling, nobody really knew back then what it was but to be honest the real trouble for me started when I hit my teens. I was bullied suffered extremely with depression and was in and out of the doctors wanting answers a cure, anything really. So I reached 16 & a few months later I was suppose to go in for major surgery to move ligaments from one side to the other to be told by the surgeon " Sorry Katie but your face isn't bad enough to undergo the surgery" and was refused. From that day I decided that one day I was going to change this. To help and support those who are suffering like I was, to offer therapy, healing from those who are living with palsy for life & provide alternative treatments for those who are not in a financial position to do so! I have undergone several procedures & beauty treatments since reaching 18 which has completely changed my life. From 16 never wanting to be in photos to now leading and empowering women worldwide in cosmetics, The change in me has been massive! My purpose now is to help women men and children see that even with facial palsy they can still lead a normal and successful life & I will be there to support them every step of the way! My aim with the funds is to set up FACE IT as a charity here & have a healing home/retreat where FACE IT can fund sufferers a spot to have therapy/confidence coaching/treatments to become a survivor just like me. I also want to offer children a place where they can come with there families to begin healing together. My Passion is to build awareness & support children who are suffering to face it because together we will beat it!
